Ian's Favorite Past time!

Since Ian was about 10 months he likes to pull the DVDs off the shelf.  It got so bad that we put all the DVDs in the office and close the door so he can not get into them.  Well, Jonathan was doing homework in the office the other day and Ian wanted to go in there with him.  This was the result!

What a silly, naughty boy.

Ian and His Toothbrush!

Ian is ADDICTED to his toothbrush.  If either Jonathan or I are brushing our teeth, he wants his 8 teeth brushed as well.  He wants to take his toothbrush everywhere! I think he might be a dentist one day!

Two Halloween Parties!

On Friday night, our ward had a Halloween party.  It was super fun for the kids, they got to play pin the wart on the witch, face painting, and make a ghost out of a sucker.  Ian is just old enough to enjoy those games and he wanted to play all of them over and over again.  He also won bubbles and a pencil which is he also thought was wonderful. Unfortunately our camera died before we could get pictures of that stuff.  These are the only pictures that we were able to take.

Party number two was at Cassie's house.  We played games and watched movies and had plenty of good food.  Ian also made a new friend named Chase!

Pumpkin Walk 2011

North Logan does something called a Pumpkin Walk.  Every year, everyone who wants to participate can make a pumpkin scene.  Its free and we thought we would take Ian this year.  So we went really early one morning.  This was the best time to go because it was packed after we left for the rest of the day.  I think Ian enjoyed it! He had fun and likes anything where he can walk around!
They had a ton of cut outs like this one! We put Ian in a few!

The Easter Bunny!

This one is Jonathan's favorite! Ian as The Little Mermaid

Anxieties...

This morning has been one of those mornings.  Ian is driving me NUTS! He has somehow dumped every toy out of his toy boxes in the living room.  He also managed to find and play with the ipod touch and my cell phone.  And he even took my entire wallet and purse apart.  I have been counting down the minutes until I can put him to bed for a nap.  Of course today also has to be the day that Jonathan is going deer hunting and will not be home until late :( (don't even get me started on what I think about the deer hunting adventure).  Jonathan says it make him happy so I am working on being ok with him going.

I may be feeling a lot of anxiety because I have not slept past 4:30 am this last week.  When I was pregnant with Ian, I was never this uncomfortable this early on.  If this is how the entire pregnancy is going to go I might go crazy from lack of sleep. I am showing a few of these signs and its hard to deal with the crazy things my 16 month old thinks he needs to do.

I have lived in Utah for 8.5 years and its starting to take its toll on me.  I have lived in 2 countries, 2 provinces, 2 states, 7 cities and I am ready for another change. Yes, maybe people think I am crazy but I am ready for one (or both of us) to find a job and move on with our lives (preferably outside of this state or country :) ).  I have been feeling like we are ready to start our lives and the start of a new life means a new city.

Last but not least is the fact that I have signed up to take the BOC exam AGAIN.  I have been spending a lot of time reading and studying as well as taking a class in Ogden once a week.  Its been really hard with Jonathan gone for work/school and he is trying to complete his thesis and comprehensive exam at the same time. I have been trying to use the things that I have learned in this class to study and other test taking skills.  I could be taking this test as early as the first week of November so I have to really get down to business. I need to settle down and stop putting so much pressure on this test.  I can always take it again in April.

Dancing!

This morning, I had Pandora turned to to the classic rock station.  Some Kind of Wonderful by Grand Funk Railroad came on and Ian danced to the entire thing.  Wish I could have gotten pictures because it was so darn sweet!

The Bubbles

While we were in Montana, we stayed at an RV park in a tent.  The lady who owned the place was awesome and she was very nice to this group because they were there for ten days and did not disturb anyone else.  We went and chatted with her a few times, she had plenty of stories about the town and gossip about the people.  The last day we were there, Jonathan went over to get a room for us to stay in because she also ran a hotel.  It had been raining for 3 days straight and our tent had a huge hole in it, so we decided we better do that for the last night.  She thought Ian was so cute every time we came in to talk to her and so she asked if she could give him something.  We said yes, and she went into her little office and came back out with bubbles.
Ian loves these bubbles, he thinks they are so awesome, watching them float down and trying to pop them.  We brought them home and he still wanted to play with them.  He brings them to me and we play with them a few times a day.

It has gotten Kiwi mighty interested in what these were.  She used to meow at them because I think they scared her a little bit.  Now let me back up for a few minutes.  Kiwi is our birding cat for sure.  She can really only see animals that fly in the air.  She has caught so many flies and other creatures that have come into our house, its nice having her around.  So bubbles are something she thought was a fly.  Well, now every time Ian asks for the bubbles to be blown, Kiwi gets right in there with him to pop them.  They almost have a contest to see who can pop the most bubbles.  Ian is just not as coordinated as Kiwi is so she usually gets most of them before he pops one.

Just the Two of Us...Again...

Jonathan's boss promised him some time to work on his thesis after going on the Lima, Montana trip.  So he got Tuesday and Wednesday morning and then he left again this time for the Sand Creek Massacre sight in Eads, Colorado. There were supposed to be two other people going but they fell through so Jonathan volunteered to go. This is going to have chief Native Americans watching them to make sure they do not disturb anything and they are not allowed to collect anything so it is very different then what he has done in the past.  It was a 12 hour drive to south eastern Colorado and they will be there for 5 days.  Hopefully, I can fill my time with fun and entertain Ian at the same time.  He gets easily bored with me these days.  So far I have to go down to Ogden tomorrow for school and Sunday I get to teach Sunday School all by myself.  Both of those should be enjoyable experiences with Ian tagging along.

Play Areas

The mall in Logan has a play place that has ice cream and soda shaped things the kids can play on.  I took Ian over once right as the mall was opening so he was the only one there.  He loved it and played hard, but when another kid came her would watch them closely but be shy about playing.
We then took him last Friday night to the same play place and there were a ton of kids.  I would put him on something and he would play for about 30 seconds and then he would get off and come hug his Dad.  He obviously was a bit overwhelmed by the bazillion people.

The same thing happened at Chick-fil-a.  A few weeks ago we went there for lunch on a Saturday and there were hoards of kids.  He would very carefully watch the other children but not do so much playing on the equipment.  We went and got ice dreams last night because we had free coupons and he was the only kid in there.  He was so happy to play with all the different things.  I wish he would grow out of this shy phase and jump right in.  But I guess he needs to watch the other children and see what they do too.

5 days in Lima

Where do I begin.  Ian and I drove up on Saturday afternoon to see Jonathan in Lima.  Ian didn't take a nap the entire time we were there.  It rained for the last two days straight.  Our tent ripped on the second to last day and Jonathan got all soaked.  We ended up getting a motel room for the final night because we could not bear the cold and rain any longer.

While we were there Jonathan found some pretty cool stuff like a clovis point.  These are things that are really old and not often found so he was stoked to be involved with finding this one.

Ian and I went to Dillon, Montana two different days.  This place was 50 miles from Lima, and really the closest place with a grocery store and other things to do.  Ian and I went to the Dillon museum.  Very small, but did have many bones from mammoths that had been found right where Jonathan was digging.  He didn't find a mammoth but one had been found just a few years back.

October Already!

Where did September go? How is it already October? Oh well I can find some fun things in Logan to take Ian, like corn mazes and pumpkin walks.  He might actually be old enough to enjoy things like that this year.

Canadian Thanksgiving is just 10 days away.  Maybe I will do something for it this year. (I would skip US Thanksgiving but my dad is coming out for it). I can not even read or listen to most of the news in the United States because it is so racist and bigoted.  I even have my yahoo account set to the Canadian setting because I would rather read what is going on there and find out about the Canadian dollar vs. US dollar.

In other news, Jonathan is still in Lima, Montana.  Ian and I will go up and meet him there this afternoon.  I have done a lot better this time around with being a single mom.  I have not had as many freak outs as I did the other two weeks.  That shows that I can do this no matter how long or far Jonathan has to go for work. Pretty proud of myself.

Also, being back in school is a lot harder than I thought it would be.  Ian makes it hard because except for when he naps and after he goes to bed, I can not study.  This prep course has been a really nice thing for me though and I am thankful that I can take it.  It has shown me that my test taking skills need a lot of work (Maybe should have figured that out before I got my bachelors and my masters).  I know now that it is not that I do not know my material, it is that I get into the testing environment and panic.  This week was a much better showing on the mini tests she gives us then I have shown the past two weeks.  So maybe all the test taking strategies I have learned recently are really helping.

Pregnancy is going well.  I am 22 weeks 4 days and I am feeling really good and energetic.  If I can keep that feeling until the end of December that would be awesome!
